About Autism
Autism is a severe developmental disability that is usually noted within the first three years of life. It occurs in 1 of 150 births, exists in every ethnic group and every part of the world, and is much more common in boys than girls. Before treatment, youngsters with autism exhibit uneven patterns of development. Often, speech is absent or very delayed and children do not relate to objects, events, or other people in expected ways.
Early intensive behavioral intervention (ABA) is the only treatment with a proven track record of success. A significant body of scientific evidence shows that when started early, treatment outcomes (significant positive change in language, cognition and social behaviors) are best when behavioral methods (ABA) are used.
At Nexus, we specialize in treating youngsters with moderate to mild autism. Our success stories — the smiling, affectionate children who love to talk, play sports, and attend regular school with their friends — are those families who understand the severity of the situation and work with us to give their children a fighting chance at a normal, healthy life.
Would you like to speak to some of these families? Drop us a line and we’d be happy to put you in touch with them.
